Please see the info shared by Mrs Lee regarding Kashi's funeral and prayer services below:
Dear South School Community,
With the family’s permission, we are sharing the service information for Kashmira Naili. We know that many members of our community are grieving this heartbreaking loss and may wish to come together to honor her life and support her family.
The service will be on Wednesday, August 26th, after Dhuhr prayer at 1 pm sharp.
Andover Islamic Center
204 Andover St, Suite 201
Andover, MA 01810
The burial will take place right after the prayer, at
Spring Grove Cemetery
5 Spring Grove Rd
Andover, MA 01810
Here is some information regarding prayer services held at AIC (Andover Islamic Center)
1. Women will pray and gather on the 5th floor of the AIC
2. Men will pray and gather on the 3rd floor of the AIC
3. Muslims do fully cover themselves when they perform prayers so the dress code for men is pants and long sleeved shirts. The dress code for women is long sleeved shirts or blouses of any kind and pants or skirts that are also ankle length. Women should also plan on bringing a scarf to cover their hair.
4. All are welcome to attend! It is best to arrive before Dhur prayer services start (1 pm) and if you'd prefer to sit out Dhurt prayer, just take a seat in the rear of the room until the funeral prayers are held.
5. There most likely will not be a pause or long break between dhur prayer and funeral prayers so to cause less disruption, plan to arrive prior to Dhur prayers.
6. Colors of clothing - there is no particular color Muslims wear to funeral prayers, but most do tend to follow the darker clothes are best custom. Please avoid anything bright (for example neon pink or bright red).
7. There is a procession after prayer services to the burial ground and all are welcome and do usually attend.
8. It is customary to say, "Inna Lilahi Wa Inna Ilayhe Rajaiun" when you meet with or speak to the deceased's family members. This means "to Him we belong and to Him we return".
9. All are welcome to attend the funeral prayer services and kids are also welcome. AIC has an area on the 5th floor where kids play.
10. Women who are menstruating should abstain from prayer services BUT are welcome to sit in the prayer room and listen to the prayers.
11. You do NOT need to know how to pray, you will just follow the movements the congregation makes and listen to the imam (religious leaders) prayers which will be said out loud.
12. We rec that you car pool if possible as prayer times can get busy and we expect many folks to attend Kashi's funeral prayers.
We hope this is helpful and in the coming weeks, the PTO will work with South School and the rest of our community in supporting Kashi's family in what way is best.
Thank you and again all the support and love to our South School Community during this difficult time. Attending will show Kashi's family the support and love they most certaintly need during this time.
