All parents of current students are automatically members of the South Elementary School PTO. All are welcome and encouraged to get involved in the PTO operations and to participate in PTO activities. The PTO board is a group of volunteer parents focused on raising money to support programs and initiatives that benefit the students at South Elementary School.

Why is there a South PTO?
1. To collaboratively work towards developing an educational climate that is not only informative but also fun with programs to supplement classroom education. The PTO focuses on what students need to be successful in their learning and works with South School to ensure that students at all grade level succeed.
2. To help South School parents build ties with not only each other but with faculty, admintration, and other staff at South School. These relationships not only help parents feel more connected to their school community but also ensure greater cooperation and understanding amongst all parties involved in our children’s elementary education. The PTO provides a mutual platform for parents and teachers to work for the betterment of the school and students; physically and intellectually!
3. To encourage and support the active involvement of parents in educational matters and events at South Elementary School for the benefit of every child at South Elementary.
4. To shower the teachers at South Elementary with love and gratitude from the parents of the children they teach!
5. To raise funds to help support PTO intiatives through fundraisers, donations, and special events.
6. To give back to the Andover comunity when and where possible!
How does the PTO raise funds, and where do they go?
The South School PTO holds events and fundraisers throughout the school year! Some events are purely for fun and to create a sense of community and bring South friends and families together. Funds collected via ticket/food sales for these events help cover the costs of such events (ie Halloween Movie Night, Spring Fling). Currently, we are busy working on our brand new fundraiser, Tiger Tickets Raffle Fundraiser, which will take the place of Fun Run for the 2025-2026 school year and will be our BIGGEST fundraiser of the year! Please stay tuned for more ways to help as we need this fundraiser to be a HUGE success to fund the various PTO intiatives throughout the year.
Many other events allow the PTO to raise funds to support our various intiatives (ie Sweet Mimis Valentines day fundraiser, dine outs, half day fundraisers, thanksgiving pie sales, gift card drives).
PTO funds raised throughout the year help the PTO support and fund things like curriculum enrichment, teacher/staff discretionary spending, teacher appreciation week events and staff appreciation lunches/breakfasts, holiday gifts for staff, school supplies for families in need, fifth grade activites, fifth grade graduation gifts, and the list goes on and on! As you can see, ALL funds raised by the PTO are defintely needed and used to support not only your children and their education but also our wonderful teachers and the Andover community at large.
